True bugs (Hemiptera, Heteroptera) as psyllid predators (Hemiptera, Psylloidea)
Data on natural enemies of psyllids are rare and can usually be found in papers about economically significant species. During an investigation of psyllid fauna in Serbia, natural enemies were investigated, too. True bugs were the most numerous among them. From 28 psyllid species, 21 species of true bugs from families Anthocoridae and Miridae were reared. Seven species of Anthocoridae were iden...
متن کاملBarcoding Bugs: DNA-Based Identification of the True Bugs (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera)
BACKGROUND DNA barcoding, the analysis of sequence variation in the 5' region of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) gene, has been shown to provide an efficient method for the identification of species in a wide range of animal taxa. In order to assess the effectiveness of barcodes in the discrimination of Heteroptera, we examined 344 species belonging to 178 genera, drawn from spec...
متن کاملIntergeneric distribution and immunolocalization of a putative odorant-binding protein in true bugs (Hemiptera, Heteroptera).
Lygus antennal protein (LAP) is an olfactory-related protein of the tarnished plant bug Lygus lineolaris (Hemiptera, Heteroptera: Miridae), a hemimetabolous insect. In previous work, a polyclonal antiserum was generated against the N-terminal sequence of LAP; LAP immunoreactivity was strongest in antennae of adult males, but was also present in antennae of adult females and of nymphs. In the cu...
متن کاملمعرفی بخشی از سنهای فعال در اکوسیستمهای آبی با تأکید بر سنهای آبزی و نیمهآبزی فعال در شالیزارها و رودخانههای اطراف
The true bugs (Insecta: Heteroptera) are one of the most important insects which included several pest and beneficial species (predators and parasitoids) and therefore have important role in agroecosystems. The fauna of aquatic and semi-aquatic Heteroptera was studied in paddy fields and around aquatic ecosystems in some regions of Iran through 2004-2009. Totally 58 species from 14 families inc...
متن کاملThe first finding of (TTAGG)n telomeric repeat in chromosomes of true bugs (Heteroptera, Belostomatidae)
Using the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), the presence of (TTAGG)n telomeric sequence was detected in the chromosomes of Lethocerus patruelis (Stål, 1854) belonging to the family Belostomatidae (Heteroptera: Nepomorpha). This sequence was exclusively present at the ends of chromosomes in this species. This is the first evidence of the insect-type TTAGG telomeric repeats in Heteroptera.
